As we have seen with the current COVID-19 health crisis, it is important that we not only build up our own defences against illness but also protect those at high risk of severe complications within our community.
The influenza vaccine can help us as the single most important measure to prevent and reduce influenza infection. After vaccination, most adults develop antibody levels that are likely to protect them against the strains of virus represented in the vaccine. In addition, there is likely to be protection against many related influenza variants.
By choosing to vaccinate, we protect ourselves, prevent transmission to high-risk groups and potentially decrease the risk of hospitalisation. This will, in turn, ensure our hospitals are in the best place possible to treat patients experiencing severe illness from COVID-19 as the situation evolves.
Bookings
Vim & Co offers convenient by appointment vaccinations from our Northbridge store.
All vaccinations are by appointment only – we are unable to offer walk-in vaccinations at this time.
Please note: Some groups of people are eligible for free vaccines (see our blog post for a list of eligible groups) however free vaccines are only available through your local GP. Please note that whilst for these groups the vaccine is free, your GP may still charge a consult fee.
Duration: Vaccination appointments are approximately 20 minutes
Important information about your booking
- You will be required to wait for 15 minutes INSIDE the pharmacy post-vaccination. If you are unable to wait, we are unable to administer the vaccination and it is recommended you seek vaccination from your local GP instead at a time convenient for you. If you are in mandatory isolation due to a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19, you will not be able to attend your booking until all symptoms have subsided and you are cleared of the COVID-19 by your GP.
- We are unable to vaccinate if you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms including sore throat and fever
- Whilst you can technically have a flu vaccination whilst you have a cold, we are unable to vaccinate in store if symptoms are present given symptoms are similar to those experienced with COVID-19. If you are experiencing any symptoms and have a vaccination booked, simply call us to reschedule.
- We are only able to vaccinate children over 10 years of age. Children must be exactly 10 years of age or older (EG. if your child is turning 10 in August, they can’t be vaccinated in a pharmacy until after their 10th birthday).
